Sun. in HarlanFuneral services for Martin
J. Wiley, 92, Harlan, were Sun-
day afternoon at Pauley funeral
home. He died Thursday at
Myrtue Memorial Hospital.He lived in Shelby county 70
years. He was preceded in
death by his wife, a daughter,
Fannie, and a brother and two
sisters in Denmark.Survivors include children:
Alice Gresham, Los Angeles,
Calif.; Charles, Walnut; Leo-
nard and Lowell, both of Har-
lan; eight grandchildren and a

MARTIN J. WILEY, 92Martin J. Wiley was born
April 9, 1869 in Denmark and
died July 6, 1961 at Myrtue
Memorial hospital in Harlan at
the age of 92 years, 2 months
and 27 days.He came to this country at
the age of 16 coming to Council
Bluffs. He then came to Shelby
county where he worked on a
farm for a short time. He his
lived in Harlan for over 70
yearsFebruary 27, 1904 he was un-
ited in marriage to Gertrude
Paulsen in Council Bluffs and
to this union 5 children were
born.Mr. Wiley was preceded in
death by his wife in 1922, a
daughter, Fannie, a brother
Chris Jensen and 2 sisters in
Denmark.He is survived by 1 daughter,
Mrs. Alice Gresham of Los An-
geles, Calif.; 3 sons, Charles
of Walnut and Leonard and
Lowell of Harlan; 8 grandchil-
dren and a brother, Peter in
Denmark.Funeral Services were held
at the Pauley Funeral Home
Sunday, July 9 with Pastor
Oscar E. Johnson officiating.
Burial was in Harlan ceme-
tery.Pallbearers were Joe Krantz,
Joe Hertzing, Vic Stofferson,
Harlan Peterson, Elmer Hei-
merman and Walter Whilhelm-
