Employment: During her early adulthood, she used her talents in a musical group she formed along with 2 other instrumentalists. She worked in the Omaha (NE) Symphony office, and was later employed by Goodwill Industries in Omaha as a rehabilitation counselor. In 1988, she moved to Harlan, IA, to care for her parents. There, she worked at CDS and Shelby County Monument in Harlan.

Hobbies/Interests: As a teenager, Mary Clare used her musical talents to sing at church weddings and funerals, as well as having performed in school plays such as “The Case of the Crushed Petunias;” she received top honors in music contests. After moving to Harlan (IA), she was an active community volunteer, and worked with the Red Cross Bloodmobile as well as the Myrtue Medical Center Auxiliary. Mary Clare was an active member of the Harlan Lioness Club, and had received the Lioness of the Year award.
