Education: attended Omaha, NE schools and graduated from Omaha North High School, Class of 1950

Religious affiliation: member, Elk Horn Lutheran Church, Elk Horn, IA, and was a member of the church choir.

Military service: enlisted in the U. S. Army National Guard and then entered the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He was trained in fixed-wing aviation, attended officer candidate school, and later took helicopter training. He served 2 tours of duty as a medical evacuation pilot with the Medical Service Corps in Vietnam and, in total served 27 years. Dick attained a final rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Marriage: Mary Ann Henriksen; June 15, 1960; Fort Sam Houston, Texas

Employment: After retiring from the military, Dick farmed and then worked for 15 years at the U.S. Postal Service. He continued to stay active by working at local gas stations, where he enjoyed visiting with people.

Hobbies/Interests: member, Western Iowa Arts Association; member, the American Legion Post #322, Elk Horn, IA; member, Harry Albertsen AMVETS in Kimballton, IA. Dick promoted patriotism to area youth.
