Employment: After high school Lotus took a job at Citizen’s Savings Bank, until she married and started her family. After Ned’s death in 1981, she worked 3 different jobs: first, selling insurance, then at Citizen’s Bank and finally, she was the Assistant Librarian at the Avoca Public Library until her retirement in 2009. She also cared for her parents and aunt in their later years.

Hobbies/Interests: genealogy, quilting, reading, bird watching, bowling, and sewing; member, Order of Eastern Star in Harlan, IA, P.E.O., Oakland (IA) Genealogy Society, and the Avoca (IA) Retired Business Women.
