Education: attended Harlan (IA) elementary and junior high schools before graduating from Harlan High School; she later received her LPN degree from Iowa Western Community College, in 1969

Religious affiliation: baptized at Bethel Baptist Church in Harlan, IA, where she was a member until 1971; at that time, she joined St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia, IA and was confirmed. She was an active member of the church, having belonged to the Parish Council and Rosary Society, serving as President, and coordinating and teaching high school CYO for years. She also taught grade school CYO, CCD, and First Communion off and on for 8 years.

Employment: While in school, she worked as a Dietary Aide in the kitchen of the Baptist Memorial Home, then as a Nurse’s Aide through high school and during her nurse’s training. After completing her training, she was later employed as a Charge Nurse. During her 28 years of employment, she held the positions of Interim Director of Nursing and Resident Service Advisor. She also assisted her husband with farming duties. She retired from nursing in 1995 for health reasons.

Hobbies/Interests: gardening, canning, reading, cross-stitching, crocheting, sewing handwork
