Education: attended Northwest Missouri State University on an athletic scholarship for both basketball and football and was inducted into the NWMSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. He later attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and earned his Doctorate in Education Administration.

Religious affiliation: member, Olivet Christian Church, Columbia, MO

Military service: U. S. Navy, 1946-1948

Employment: Allan was selected in the ninth round of the 1950 NBA draft by the Fort Wayne Pistons; he had a short professional career before retiring due to an injury. Allan then served over 60 years as Superintendent of Schools in Watson, Fairfax, Richmond, Lebanon, Sedalia and St. Charles, all in the State of Missouri.

Hobbies/Interests: boating, fishing, golf, hunting and watching western movies; member, Columbia (MO.) Elks Club and the 3 Dollar Club at Lake of the Woods Golf Course, Columbia, MO.
