Survived by: Wife of 50 years, Judy Patten of Harlan, IA; son, Alan (spouse, Stacy) Patten of Oviedo, FL; daughter, Amy Jo (spouse, Bruce) Placke of Woodland Hills, CA; 2 grandchildren; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Joseph and Alma (nee Plambeck) Patten

Education: attended Sunnyside Country School, Hemlock Country School from Grade 2 through Grade 7, spent Grade 8 at St. Mary’s Catholic School, and attended Persia High School for the next 2 years

Religious affiliation: baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith

Military service: enlisted in the U. S. Marines in 1959, serving in Okinawa, Japan, China, the Philippines, Borneo, Laos, Thailand, and Hawaii; honorably discharged in 1963.

Marriage: Judith Nelson; June 26, 1965; Rockport, MO

Employment: became a lineman for Olds Construction Company of Davenport, IA, traveling all over Illinois with the job. In 1964, he became a tender for Purcell Construction Company in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area; in addition, he worked nights as a weighman at the Western Iowa Port Plant in Harlan, IA. In 1968, Larry started his own company, “Patten Masonry Construction” while continuing to work nights at the pork plant. Four years later, he gave up working nights and continued with Patten Masonry Construction; he retired in 1997.
