Military service: Inducted into the U. S. Army and served actively for 6 months at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and Fort Dix, NJ before being released to the IA National Guard.

Employment: farmer; he served on various farming boards. In 1972, he and 3 others purchased the Crouch Elevator in Irwin, IA, renaming it Farmers Elevator.
