Education: Graduated from Kirkman (IA) High School with the Class of 1936. While in high school, Clifford was Editor-in-Chief of the Kirkman year book, "The Bomb," and drew the cartoons for the school newspaper. During his junior year he played the role of Jimmy Carlyle, an attorney in the play "The Attorney for the Defense." He performed the role of Ruford Sawyer, a timid lawyer, in the school play "Two Days to Marry." He was senior class vice president. Clifford played reserve guard on the basketball team. He was first cornet in his high school orchestra. Later, Clifford received a Certificate of Completion for 24 Hour Basic Electronics from Iowa Western Community College.

Religious affiliation: member, Redline Church of Christ after their baptism there in 1961; Clifford was installed as an elder of the church in 1969.

Employment: After their marriage, Clifford and Delores farmed near Avoca, IA, and then moved to a farm near Marne, IA. They purchased a corn shelling business in 1962 and operated the business until 1993.

Hobbies/Interests: active member of the Marne (IA) Fire Department; served on the Marne City Council for many years and was a den leader for the Marne Cub Scouts.
