Military service: entered the U. S. Army in Jan. 1953; he served in Korea until honorably discharged in Dec. 1954.

Employment: Farmer: began farming east of Westphalia, IA, then moved his family to a farm near Shelby in 1962; they purchased a farm in 1969 near Panama, IA, where they remained. In 1975, he was honored as Farmer of the Year by the Panama (IA) Community Club.

Hobbies/Interests: An involved community member, he was on the Panama School Board, Parish Council, Community Club, Athletic Association, Portsmouth American Legion Post No. 601, The Mosquito Watershed, and also coached Pee-Wee baseball for several years.
