Funeral services: Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at the Shelby United Methodist Church in Shelby, IA; Military Rites were conducted by the Shelby American Legion Post #240 and ashes were buried in the Minden Cemetery, Minden, IA

Survived by: Wife, Betty Stuhr of Shelby, IA; daughters, Linda (spouse, Dix) Scranton of Norfolk, NE, Merry Jo Stuhr of Gray, ME, and Nancy (spouse, Don) Foringer of Edmond, OK; son, Richard (spouse, Kae) Stuhr of Shelby, IA; 6 grandchildren; 5 step-grandsons; other relatives and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Emil W. and Emma C. (nee Pieper) Stuhr; infant brother; sister, Elizabeth Booth

Education: graduated from Tennant (IA) High School, Class of 1941; briefly attended junior college in California.

Religious affiliation: member, Shelby United Methodist Church, Shelby, IA

Military service: served in the U.S. Navy; trained as a Navy pilot and served in World War II; was recalled into the Service during the Korean War

Marriage: Betty Maxine Jacobsen; June 5, 1949; Silver Creek, NE

Employment: farmed until his retirement in 2009; also did part-time television repair at his “Countryside TV” shop

Hobbies/Interests: previously a member of the 8-Ball Flying Club of Harlan, IA; was a Ham radio operator and a member of the ARRL, the American Radio Relay League; enjoyed building and flying model planes, reading and travel
