Survived by: husband, Kenneth Peters of Walnut, IA; sister, Ardella Rold of Harlan, IA; sister-in-law, Rose Ann (spouse, Bryant) Witherspoon of Hernando, MS; brother-in-law, Carl (spouse, Judy) Peters of Harlan, IA; nieces, Julie (spouse, Dr. Joseph) Gunn of Kingsport, TN, Kristi Peters, PhD, of Titusville, PA, and Jennifer (spouse, Cory) Sornson of Independence, IA; nephews, Chris Whitaker of Carroll, IA and Robert (spouse, Tracey) Witherspoon of Tullahoma, TN; great-nieces, Laura Nunley, Sarah Stricklin, Rachel Witherspoon, Karen Sornson, and Rachel Sornson; great-nephew, Conner Gunn; other family members and friends

Education: attended elementary school at Rose Hill Monroe Township No. 2 and graduated from Harlan High School with the Class of 1958; she then attended Sioux Falls College in Sioux Falls, SD and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Christian Education in 1964

Religious affiliation: baptized as Altamont Baptist Church, Harlan, IA, where she remained a lifelong member; she was very active in the Women’s Mission Society at both local and regional levels and held various offices at the regional level. She played piano for church and vacation bible school for nearly 50 years.

Marriage: Kenneth Peters; June 22, 1968; Altamont Baptist Church, Harlan, IA

Employment: worked for several years for the Shelby County Social Services office and the Country Treasurer; after she acquired her degrees, she taught first grade at the Floyd Valley School Systems in Alton, IA for 4 years before she married. She taught for an additional year (second grade) after her marriage, and then became a full-time farmer’s wife.

Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed cross stitching; collecting Precious Moments figurines; sewing clothes for her nieces, and baking; served was on the Care Review Committee at Elm Crest Retirement Home for many years.
