Funeral services: Wednesday, April 2, 2014, First Baptist Church, Elk Horn, IA; Pastor Joe Pennington officiated. Burial was in the Clay Township Cemetery near Elk Horn, IA.

Survived by: wife of 55 years, Joyce A. Petersen of Elk Horn, IA; children and grandchildren, Brian (spouse, Lisa) Petersen of Rochester, MN, and their children Andrea, Jenna and Reed Petersen; Kim (spouse, Jeff) Mossman of Conrad, IA and their children Melissa (spouse, Joel) Graber, Clarke, Emily, Jacob and Kaylynn Mossman; Kevin (spouse, Carrie) Petersen of Elk Horn, IA, and their children Kendall, Kyle, Noah and Ella Petersen; sisters, Julie (spouse, Dean) Flesner of Atlanta, GA, and Dixie (spouse, Rod) Knowles of Atlanta, GA; other relatives and friends

Education: attended Clay #2 school (Shelby County, IA) and then graduated from Elk Horn (IA) High School, Class of 1952

Religious affiliation: member of the First Baptist Church in Elk Horn, IA

Military service: U.S. Army, 2 years

Marriage: Joyce Ann Baker, June 6, 1958, First Federated Church, Des Moines, IA.

Employment: after high school, Lynn worked as a mechanic for the school managing the bus barn for 2 years. In 1956, he attended National Trade Schools in Los Angeles, CA before entering the military. After his marriage and relocation to the West Coast, Lynn continued his career as an auto transmission mechanic in Los Angeles and later Denver, CO. In 1965, the couple again relocated and purchased a farm in Clay Township near Elk Horn, IA, where they lived ever since. Lynn farmed and raised livestock, as well as working as an Archer Oil Dealer for 45 years.

Hobbies/Interests: Lynn loved to feed cattle, which he did for over 47 years. Lynn earned conservation awards for his stewardship of the farmland, as well as a Shelby County Master Farmer and Century Farm awards.
