Accepted to Immanuel Lutheran Hospital’s nursing school in Omaha, NE when she turned 18. She received notice she had passed the IA Nursing Boards on Dec. 8, 1941.

Military service: Enlisted in the Army Nurses Corps in Aug. 1942 and was stationed at Camp Carson, CO. She received her discharge from the military just 94 days after her enlistment and began her life being an officer’s wife.
