Employment: During his school years, Dick worked for his father at Elk Horn Produce, becoming a partner in 1956; they later changed the name to Elk Horn Brand Eggs, and Dick operated the business until he closed it in 1984. In 1988, Dick and Elinor moved to Lenox, IA, and Dick went to work for the USDA as an Egg Products Inspector, working there until he retired in 1997.

Hobbies/Interests: Dick and Elinor enjoyed traveling and became snowbirds during their retirement, traveling to Arizona during the winter months. He was an avid birdwatcher, with the cardinals and the hummingbirds being his favorites. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf, and spending time with his family
