Survived by: Daughters, Karla (spouse, Steve) Mikkelsen of Harlan, IA and Lori (spouse, Joe) Beaman of Atlantic, IA; grandchildren, Jana Mikkelsen and Andrew Scheffler; step-grandchildren, Sunshine Gruber and Grant Beaman; great-grandchild, Kenny Scheffler; step-great-grandchildren, Jamison and Jaxson Gruber, and Clara Beaman; sister, Kathy (spouse, Dean) Koster of Harlan, IA; Gerald Christensen; nieces; nephews; other family and friends

Education: attended school in Elk Horn (IA) but left high school before graduating

Military service: drafted into the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in February of 1952.

Employment: worked at Harlan Manufacturing as a shipping and receiving clerk and operated his own lawn care and snow removal business. He worked for Elk Horn Brand Eggs and Produce, drove a parts truck, as well as Schwann’s and the beef plant. He loved carpentry and had his own woodshop. He made windchimes and various other items. He retired in 2006 but continued to mow lawns. He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed what he did.

Hobbies/Interests: loved time with his grandchildren, family, and friends, and listening to polka music.
