Education: attended Tennant High School, Tennant, IA; graduated with the Class of 1954

Religious affiliation: baptized and confirmed in The Immanuel Lutheran Church; in 1979, he was baptized in the Harlan Church of Christ where he became treasurer and song leader, positions he held for over 30 years.

Military service: joined the U. S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Antietam in the Mediterranean Ocean; he was honorably discharged.

Marriage: Peggy Thygesen; Nov. 25, 1961; Harlan Church of Christ, Harlan, IA

Employment: farmed the family farm, raising hogs and sheep

Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed animals, traveling, and his 1957 red Chevy. He was a mentor to many young people.
