Michele Lynn Olson
March 24, 1956 - June 25, 2012

Michele Lynn, daughter of Carl and Inez (Freml) Rostermundt, was born March 24, 1956, in Denison, Iowa. She graduated from Manilla High School in 1974.

Michele married Allen Olson on September 13, 1975, at Sacred Heart Church. Al and Michele made their home on the Olson family farm west of Manilla, and three children were born to this union. Michele was a companion to Allen in maintaining the farm and house, and in raising the family.

For the past 16 years, Michele worked as an accounts payable clerk at the Farm Service Co-op General Office in Harlan. In prior years, she worked as a teller at Norwest Bank and Bank of Iowa, as well as Sucrosco Seed Corn, and the veterinary office of Dr. Slavick.

Michele prided herself in being a mother. She genuinely supported her children’s variety of activities and preserved the memories through scrapbooking. Michele loved gardening, sewing, and quilting. Her scrapbooks, crafts, and flowers provide cherished mementos of her life.

As an active member of the Denison United Presbyterian Church, Michele was a deacon, a session member and mission team member. She also participated in fellowship and outreach groups, taught Sunday school, and led a senior high youth group. Her faith was matched only by her energy.

With an unwavering positive attitude, Michele fought and beat cancer in 2004. She experienced several healthy years; however, the cancer returned in 2011. Michele died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison on Monday, June 25, 2012. She was fifty-six years, three months and one day of age.

Michele is preceded in death by: her parents, parents-in-law Eldon and Leona Olson, brother Charles Rostermundt, sister Carole Chapman and Carole's husband Daryl.

She is survived by: her husband Allen Olson of Manilla; children Nathan Olson of Des Moines, Natalie (Richard) Dennis of York, PA, and Nelia Olson of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren Elisha and Gwen Dennis; nine siblings: Mary (Bob) Long of Perry; Kathleen (Duane) Wenck of Lidderdale; Connie (Rod) Huffaker of Kansas City, KS; Kenneth (Vivian) Rostermundt of Council Bluffs; Patricia (Tommy) Lewis of Arcadia, IN; Joan Rostermundt of Council Bluffs; Diane (Kent) VanZee of Urbandale; Jean (Anthony) Gurule of Longmont, CO; Michael Rostermundt of Manilla; brothers-in-law David (Paula) Olson of Le Claire, and Ron (Kay) Olson of Lake Stevens, WA; nieces and nephews, and friends.

Thursday June 28, 2012, After 4:00 p.m. at Manilla Memorial Hall
Prayer Service 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Service
Friday June 29, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at United Presbyterian Church, Denison
Visitation will resume at church after 9:30 a.m.

Interment
Friday June 29, 2012 at Nishnabotna Cemetery
