Military service: Wayne enlisted into the U.S. Army on Oct. 7, 1942 in Baltimore, MD. He served in the European Theater from Dec. 16, 1943 until his return to the States in July 1945. He was Honorably discharged from the Army in Sep. of 1945.

Employment: Wayne worked as a type setter at the Journal Herald in Avoca, IA for over 25 years
