Military service: Louis enlisted in April 1945 in the U.S. Army at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. While in the Army, Louis served 13 months at Okinawa. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 29, 1946, at Ft. Sheridan, IL, having attained the rank of Corporal.

Marriage: Virginia Marie Blum; May 4, 1953, St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church, Panama, IA

Employment: farmed for over 50 years, raising crops and livestock

Hobbies/Interests: avid card player; enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes and watermelons; member of the Community Club and a 61 year-member of the Panama (IA) American Legion Post No. 601
