Religious affiliation: previously a member of the Minden (IA) Congregational Church as a child, and she and Charles joined the Shelby United Methodist Church, where she remained a member

Employment: farmed in the Shelby and Minden (IA) area before purchasing the Best family farmstead

Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery and needlepoint. She also enjoyed flowers and grew roses, her favorite flower.
