Funeral services: Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, May 9, 2009, at New Cassel Chapel in Omaha, NE, Rev. Dominic Mainelli celebrated. A graveside service was held Saturday at St. Boniface Cemetery, Westphalia, IA; Rev. Bob Hoefler celebrated.

Survived by: Children: Peter Schmieding (spouse, Barbara) of Imperial, MO, Sister Mary Ann Schmieding, OSF of Omaha, NE, Francis Schmieding of Columbia, SC, Cyril Schmieding (spouse, Velva), and Bill Schmieding (spouse, Pat), all of Omaha, NE, and Michael Schmieding (spouse, Wanda) of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren, Mark, Steven, Amy, Tony, Michelle, Todd, Jaymie, Scott, Tom and Tim; great-grandchildren, Connor, Rachel, Logan, Colton, Aiden, Brayden, Kierra, Regan, and Parker; sister, Madonna Nielsen of San Angelo, TX; aunt, Hilda Majerus of Sibley, IA; nieces; nephews; other family members and friends

Employment: After their wedding, the couple farmed outside of Westphalia, IA for 25 years before moving to Harlan in 1962. While in Harlan, Anna babysat for over 70 different families in the area.

Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed time spent in her garden; also liked to do embroidery. She was a great cook and spent many hours in the kitchen preparing family dinners.
