Survived by: Sons: Scott Schiltz (spouse, Jill) of Earling, IA, Steve Schiltz (fiancé, Kim Ekdahl), Danny Schiltz (spouse, Dana), David Schiltz (spouse, Shannon), and Brad Schiltz, all of Omaha; NE; 13 grandchildren; mother, Benita (nee Bissen) Schiltz of Earling, IA; siblings, Tony Schiltz (spouse, Helen) of Davenport, IA; Joann (spouse, Tony) Allegretti of San Jose, CA; Gene Schiltz (spouse, Marian) of Des Moines, IA; Jim Schiltz (spouse, Mel) of Bellevue, NE, and Mary (spouse, Delmer) Powell of Omaha, NE; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends

Predeceased by: father, Anthony Schiltz; wife of 41 years, Linda Schiltz (deceased April 15, 2007, Defiance, IA)

Education: attended school and graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Earling, IA

Religious affiliation: baptized at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance and, after his family moved near Earling, IA, he was confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling. Longtime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1741 of Earling.

Military service: Robert entered the U.S. Army on Nov. 9, 1966. He served his country honorably until a medical discharge on May 31, 1968.

Marriage: Linda Miller; Aug. 8, 1970; St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling, IA

Employment: Bob and Linda farmed outside of Earling, IA, where they raised their boys. In 1992, Bob began renting out the farm and started to work at Jim’s Meat Market in Harlan, IA; he was employed by Panama Transfer before finishing his career at Conductix in Harlan, IA.

Hobbies/Interests: Bob was a very hard working and dedicated family man. He enjoyed riding horses with his kids and was often known as the "Vet" of Earling, often helping neighbors pulling calves or pigs anytime of the year. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren, and playing cards.
