Funeral services: Monday, Oct.3, 2011, Pauley Jones Funeral Home, Harlan, IA; Rev. Paul Reynolds officiated. Burial, with Military Rites performed by Shelby County VFW Post No. 941 and Harlan American Legion Helmer Reyelt Post No. 150, was at the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, IA.

Survived by: Children, James Petersen of Red Oak, IA, Debra Petersen of Harlan, IA, Donna Petersen of Harlan, IA, Dennis Petersen of Harlan, IA, Gaige Petersen (spouse, Marianne) of Omaha, NE, and Scott Petersen (fiancé Kim) of Harlan; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Brunhilda "Hita" Petersen; nieces; nephews; other family members and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Hans and Doris (nee Christiansen) Petersen; wife, Irene M. Petersen (deceased June 16, 2002); son, Brian Glenn Petersen (deceased June 4, 2010); infant sister, Fern.

Education: attended Jackson Country School No. 5 in Jacksonville, IA

Religious affiliation: baptized at First Christian Church in Harlan, IA.

Military service: Glenn enlisted into the United States Army Air Corps, serving from February 17, 1943 to March 16, 1946 as an Administrative Clerk, after attending the Administrative and Tech School in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Marriage: Irene Mae Christensen; October 13, 1946; First Christian Church in Harlan, IA

Employment: Glenn served as the Director of Admissions for the Capitol School of Hairstyling in Omaha, NE for over 20 years. He also conducted seminars for private cosmetology and barber schools across the Midwest.

Hobbies/Interests: Lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.
