Survived by: wife of 44 years, Cheryl Hansen of Harlan, IA; sons, Dale (spouse, Gina) Hansen and Dan (spouse, Brenda) Hansen, both of Kimballton, IA; brother, Jerry (spouse, Sherry) Hansen of Harlan, IA; grandchildren, Nichelle Hansen, Evan Hansen, Justin Hansen, and Kyle Hansen; other relatives and friends

Predeceased by: Parents, Hans T. and Bertha V. (nee Jacobsen) Hansen; brothers, Galen Hansen, Eugene Hansen, Dennis Hansen, and an infant brother

Education: attended Jackson #6 country school (Shelby County, IA) through the grade 8

Military service: U. S. Army, beginning in Nov. 1960

Marriage: Cheryl Ann Christensen, April 12, 1969, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kimballton, IA

Employment: Before his military service, he was employed by Norman Hansen at his Jacksonville, IA, repair shop, and for the Pontiac car dealership in Exira, IA. After his return from the military, he worked as a mechanic at the E. M. Christensen dealership in Harlan, IA. With his brother, Dennis, in 1966 they began D&L Body Shop; he remained active in the business after the name was changed to D&L Auto Salvage.

Hobbies/Interests: Member, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kimballton, IA; member, AMVETS in Kimballton, where he was a past commander. Enjoyed hunting as well as fishing trips to Canada, Minnesota, and South Dakota. Leon and his brothers liked to speak their native Danish language.
