Danny Gene Hall was born on April 8, 1951 in Harlan, Iowa to Shade "Ace" and Dorothy "Dottie" Hall. He was baptized and confirmed at the Tennant Methodist Church. Danny helped his dad tend to the land and animals on the family farm. He attended Tennant grade school and later graduated from Shelby Tennant High School in 1969. After graduation, Danny started farming and worked at the Skelly Gas Station. Mr. Hall later owned and operated an auto body shop while continuing to farm and raise various livestock.

On March 25, 1972, Danny was united in marriage to Joan Dittmer at the Shelby United Methodist Church in Shelby, Iowa. To their union three children were born: Nathan, Tiffany, Benjamin. A few years later, Danny’s fourth child, Danielle was born. On February 16, 1989 Danny was united in marriage to Linda (Boeck) Dills and thus gained two step-children, Chad and Lacy. He was very proud of all his children and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In his younger years Danny’s hobbies included drag racing and snowmobiling. He loved MOPAR cars, sports, and big band music. He used to say that if he ever won the lottery he would bring the Rolling Stones to Shelby to have a concert. His most recent pastimes included wood-working and collecting WWII memorabilia. Dan always enjoyed outdoor activities such as boating and camping, but his greatest passion was fishing.

Danny was involved in his community through coaching slow pitch softball and playing Santa during the holiday seasons. He was always ready and willing to help anyone.

Danny died on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 having attained the age of 62 years, 1 month and14 days. He was preceded in death by his father Shade Hall.

He is survived by his wife Linda Hall and mother Dorothy Hall both of Shelby, Iowa; sons Nate Hall and his wife Maggie of Lincoln, Nebraska and Ben Hall and his fiancé Toni Harshbarger of Des Moines, Iowa; daughters Tiffany and her husband Todd Kamp of Knoxville, Iowa, and Danielle and her husband Brandon McWilliams of Mesa, Arizona; step-son Chad Dills of Shelby and step-daughter Lacy Dills of Bellevue, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; sisters Beverly and her husband Richard Goshorn of Harlan, Iowa, Dixie and her husband Robert Nihsen and Barbara and her husband Randy Lund all of Shelby; and brother Steve Hall and his wife Melissa of Minburn, Iowa; many nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Pastor Orris Drake officiated the 10 AM funeral service at the Shelby Methodist Church in Shelby, Iowa on Saturday, May 25, 2013. Shirley Pattee was the accompanist. Honorary casket bearers were the grandchildren; Harrison, Hudson, Lucy, Ruby, Bronson, Decklan, Mackenzie, Collin and Caitlyn. Burial was held in the Shelby Cemetery with LeRoy Gittens, Doug Wager, Denny Krummel, Adam Goshorn, Mike Lund and Dean Herbst serving as casket bearers.
