NIOMA CLAUSEN
March 28, 1924 - April 17, 2013

Nioma Marie, daughter of Nels and Anna (Lauridsen) Nelson, was born March 28, 1924, at home in Audubon County. She was baptized in the Hamlin Lutheran Church and attended country school in Sharon Township. Nioma worked as a hired girl prior to her marriage.

Nioma was united in marriage with Alfred (Bud) Clausen in the Elk Horn Lutheran Church. Two daughters were born to this union of 61 years. The couple raised their daughters on a farm southeast of Elk Horn. Nioma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker to all. She worked at the meat locker and the Salem Lutheran Home, where she thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the residents. In 1978, the couple moved to Elk Horn when Bud retired from full-time farming. Nioma kept busy working part-time at the veterinary clinic and school cafeteria. In 2003 they moved to an apartment and she enjoyed going to coffee with her lady friends.

Nioma continued to live in Elk Horn after the death of her husband Bud on November 17, 2006. She moved after her health declined to be near her daughter Marlene. Nioma died April 17, 2013, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair, NE. She was 89 years and 20 days of age.

Nioma is preceded in death by her parents and husband Bud Clausen.

Nioma is survived by her daughters Marlene (Bill) Petersen of Omaha, NE, and Charlene (Paul) Schiefer of Neenah, WI; grandsons Chris Schiefer, Jason Schiefer and Kirk Petersen; great grandsons Austin Schiefer, Alex Schiefer and Ryan Petersen; sister Lorraine (Arnie) Bintner; sister-in-law Lucille Clausen; other relatives and friends.
