Sharon K. Brundige - Age 63

Sharon Kay Brundige was born on January 31, 1949 to Fred and Mertie (Cunningham) Herrick in Winterset, Iowa. She attended school in Avoca and graduated from Avoca High School with the Class of 1967. She received her CNA from Iowa Western Community College.

On August 31, 1969, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Brundige in Avoca, Iowa. Three children were born to them: Michael, Michelle, and Mark.

Sharon worked as a CNA at the Harlan Hospital for two years before becoming the custodian at the IKM School. She stayed there for twenty-three years.

Some of Sharon’s hobbies were sewing, embroidery, and doing different crafts. She enjoyed spending time outside, fishing, and being part of the Greenridge Antique Steam Engine and Tractor show. She liked to travel to Branson, Missouri, going shopping at Wal-Mart, and listening to music from the 50's and 60's as well as country western music.

Due to her declining health, Sharon became a resident of the Carroll Health Center in May of 2011. It was there that she died on Friday, September 7, 2012, having attained the age of sixty-three years, seven months, and seven days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Michael, and her brother Robert.

Sharon is survived by her husband of forty-three years Kenny Brundige of Irwin, Iowa; daughter Michelle Brundige and her special friend Jack deSousa of Brooklyn, New York; son Mark Brundige and his special friend Shari Putnam of Manning, Iowa; brother Richard Herrick and his wife Kathy of Charles City, Iowa; sisters Mary Strong of Omaha, Nebraska, Patti and her husband Kenny Kohl of Avoca, Iowa, and Lorri Putman of Joplin, Missouri; other family members and many friends.

Ted Sieck officiated the 1:30 PM funeral service on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Serving as casket bearers were Justin Herrick, Jason Herrick, Andy Herrick, Adam Herrick, Brian Brundige, and Lonny Petersen. Interment was held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Irwin, Iowa.
