Duane "Bigfoot" Bruck - Age 56

Duane Joseph "Bigfoot" Bruck was born on March 7, 1955 to Tony and Mary (Bissen) Bruck in Harlan, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling, Iowa. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Earling and Harlan Community High School in Harlan, graduating with the Class of 1973.

In 1980, he was united in marriage to Alice Muenchrath at St. Joseph’s in Earling. They had two children: Emily and Tony. They lived on the family farm outside of Earling where Duane raised hogs, had dairy cows, and farmed.

He loved being on the farm and would often sit on his front porch and look at the view of his land.

One of Duane’s favorite pastimes was riding his Harley. He also enjoyed playing fooseball and cards with his buddies.

Duane died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 having attained the age of fifty-six years, ten months, and four days. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Irma Tierney.

He is survived by his daughter Emily Black and her husband Justin of Rochester, Minnesota; son Tony Bruck of Seattle, Washington; brothers and sisters: Lucille and her husband Harry Ausdemore of Neola, Iowa, Delbert Bruck and his wife Yvonne of Harlan, Iowa, Marian and her husband Joe Wellman of Neola, Iowa, Walter Bruck and his wife Cheryl of Denison, Iowa, Melvin Bruck and his wife Marilea of Earling, Iowa, Sylvia and her husband Dennis Gaul of Harlan, Marlene Brich of Neola, and Ralph Bruck and his wife Joan of Panama, Iowa; other family members and friends.

Rev. Tom Dooley officiated the 7:00 PM Memorial Service at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan on Monday, January 16, 2012. A private inurnment will be held by the family at a later date.
