Bernetta M. Archer - Age 81

Bernetta Marie Archer was born on August 18, 1930 to Lewis and Mary (Brodsky) Jiricek in Avon, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Remsen Lutheran Church in Remsen, Iowa, and attended school at Ravinia School in Ravinia, South Dakota.

After graduation, she moved to Sioux City and worked as a bank secretary. It was there that she met Vincent Archer, whom she was united in marriage to on July 15, 1950, in Sioux City, Iowa. Three children were born to them: Neil, Jeff, and Brad.

Bernetta raised the children and was a full-time homemaker while Vincent worked as a high school principal. She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

In January of 2009, Bernetta became a resident of Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa. It was there that she died on Monday, October 24, 2011, having attained the age of eighty-one years, two months, and six days. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Joseph and Bill.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Vincent Archer of Avoca, Iowa; sons Neil Archer and his wife Sue of Champaign, Illinois, Jeff Archer and his wife Dorothy of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Brad Archer and his wife Kris of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother James Jiricek of Greeley, Colorado; other family members and friends.

Rev. Dennis Reich officiated the 10:30 am funeral service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa on Friday, October 28, 2011. Burial was held at the Graceland Cemetery in Avoca with Kent Frosbish, Charlie Ronnfeldt, Jordan Archer, Kirk Zeeck, Robert Funk and Larry Menning serving as casket bearers.
