Lester William Ploen, age 95, passed away on August 8, 2012, at Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born on November 9, 1916, in rural Harrison County, Iowa.
Lester is survived by his wife, Doris Ploen, of Shelby, Iowa; daughter, Sylvia (Chuck) Terlouw, of West Des Moines, Iowa; son, Larry Ploen, of Shelby; grandchildren, Amy (John) Tracy, of West Des Moines and Laura (Jason) Buttorf, of San Francisco, Calif.; great grandchildren, Joclyn Tracy and Jack Tracy; sister, Lois Kahler, of Minden, Iowa; brothers, Dale (Mary) Ploen, of Knoxville, Iowa and Harley Ploen, of Walnut, Iowa.
Visitation will be Friday, August 10, 2012, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., with family greeting friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Pauley Jones Funeral Home, Avoca, Iowa. with a Prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral service Saturday, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial in Minden Cemetery, Minden.

August 8th, 2012 by Ric HansonLESTER WILLIAM PLOEN, 95, of Avoca, died Wed., Aug. 8th, at the Avoca Nursing & Rehab Center. Funeral services for LESTER PLOEN will be held 10:30-a.m. Sat., Aug. 11th, at the Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Avoca.
Visitation at the funeral home, is from Noon until 8-pm Friday (Aug. 10th), with the family greeting friends from 5-7pm. In addition, a Prayer service will be held at the funeral home, beginning at 7pm.
Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery.
LESTER PLOEN is survived by:
His wife – Doris Marie Ploen, of Shelby;
His son – Larry Ploen, of Shelby;
His daughter – Sylvia (Chuck) Terlouw, of West Des Moines;
His brothers – Dale (Mary) Ploen, of Knoxville, & Harley Ploen, of Walnut;
His sister – Lois Kahler, of Minden;
