LOIS B. WOLFORD, 89, of Atlantic & formerly of Massena (Svcs. 6-1-12)

Obituaries May 28th, 2012 by Ric Hanson

LOIS B. WOLFORD, 89, of Atlantic (& formerly of Massena), died Mon., May 28th, at the Atlantic Nursing & Rehab Center. Funeral services for LOIS WOLFORD will be held 11-a.m. Fri., June 1st, at the Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home, in Atlantic.

Visitation with the family is from 10-11am Friday, at the funeral home (1 hour prior to the service).

Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.

Burial will be in the Victoria Township Cemetery, south of Massena, at 2-p.m., Friday.

LOIS WOLFORD is survived by:
Her children – Karen Wolford, of Atlantic; Sharon (Sidney Rossell) Wolford, of Atlantic; & Kenneth (Betty) Wolford, of Moselle, MS;
12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Lois Bernice Wolford
(June 14, 1922 - May 28, 2012)

Lois Bernice Cartwright was born June 14, 1922, in Montgomery County, Iowa, the daughter of Forest and Hazel Pearl (Kuhn) Cartwright and passed away May 28, 2012, at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic, Iowa.

She grew up near Mount Ayr, Iowa, and attended country schools. On November 21, 1937, Lois married Donald Glen Wolford in Adams County, Iowa. Lois and Glen worked together in the family business, but her most important job was caring for her home and family as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Massena, Iowa.

She was small but mighty, honest and kind. Lois was a beautiful person. Her family never heard her complain. She had the ability to make any house a home. In her spare time, Lois enjoyed a good game of cards, bowling and spending time with her companion, her dog Zoie.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Forest and Hazel Cartwright; her husband, Glen Wolford; her son-in-law, Lloyd Krause; and her grandson, Douglas Patrick.

She is survived by her children, Karen Wolford of Atlantic, Sharon (Sidney Rossell) Wolford of Atlantic and Kenneth (Betty) Wolford of Moselle, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Terri Jo, Diane Kay, Vickie Lynn, Susan Rae, Scott Lloyd, Tamara Sue, Collette Mary, George Leonard, Wendy Shontelle, Cory Lynn, Nick Kenneth and Mindi; 24 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Lenore Maas; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 1, 2012, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012, in the Victoria Township Cemetery south of Massena.

Memorials may be made to the family for designation at a later date.

Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa, is in charge of the arrangements.
