MARCUS, Iowa -- Dale H. Stuhr, 81, of Marcus passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012 at Heartland Care Center in Marcus.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Earnest-Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus, with the Rev. Don Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in Marcus Amherst Cemetery. Visitation will begin 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., and a prayer service scheduled at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. There will also be one hour of visitation on Wednesday prior to the funeral. Expressions of sympathy may be directed through mauerjohnsonfh.com.

Dale Henry Stuhr was born on Aug. 17, 1930, at Omaha, Neb., the only child of Harold and Marie (Graybill) Stuhr. He attended school in Persia, Iowa. On Nov. 15, 1951, Dale enlisted in the U.S. Army. He proudly served during the Korean War as the operator of a personnel carrier. He earned his honorable discharge on June 26, 1953, having attained the rank of PFC(T). Following the war, Dale made his home in Marcus, where he began his career as an automotive mechanic with Grey's Garage.

In June of 1954, Dale and Beverly Hobson were married at Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus. Dale worked at several garages throughout the years prior to his retirement. He was an avid car fan.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Barbara (James) Leist of Canton, S.D., Dan (Liz) Stuhr of Thonotosassa, Fl., Raymond (Devon) Stuhr of Phoenix, Ariz., Linda (Robert Mercel) Janssen of Tampa, Fla., and Dale C. (Teresa) Stuhr of Alta, Iowa; and eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Jared) Soundy, Jessica and Joseph Leist, Jeremy, Timothy and Chris Foster, Austin Stuhr and Chloe Phillips.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Beverly.
