Jacobsen, Gudrun Christine (Pedersen) - - December 6, 1924 - February 17, 2012

Gudrun Christine (Pedersen) Jacobsen was born December 6, 1924 at her home in rural Elk Horn to Peder K. and Olga (Leistad) Pedersen. She grew up in Elk Horn, graduating in 1942 from Elk Horn High School. She was a life-long member of Elk Horn Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. After high school she worked as a bookkeeper for the Kimballton Creamery until she married her high school sweetheart, Warren Jacobsen, on December 3, 1944 at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church. After marriage Gudrun & Warren, lovingly referred to as ‘Tootie’ and ‘Waz’, lived a short time in Elk Horn before moving to the farm home they built 3˝ miles south of town. To this union was born three children: Gwendolyn Faye, Dean Warren & Paulette Kaye.

Gudrun was a full-time homemaker who was most proud of her children and living in the Elk Horn community. She spent many years working part-time in Warren’s realty office as a receptionist for Jerry Larsen & Mike Childs. She and Warren were true Lady Dane and Dane fans, traveling to games near and far. She was a life-long member of the Kid-A-Bit neighborhood club, a Sunday school teacher, Danish Windmill & Danish Immigrant Museum volunteer, church and Tivoli choir member, and a 4-H helper. She and Warren helped build the Dairy Twist, which later became the Danish Inn.

Grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a big part of her life. These little ones were her pride and joy and she will be missed by her family and many friends. Above all, her faith in God has been passed on to her family and serves as a lasting legacy. Praise God she is now reunited with her loved ones and her Lord and Savior.

Gudrun and Warren built a home in 1993 in Elk Horn and lived there until the past year when they moved in to Salem Lutheran Homes. She was lovingly cared for by the staff and was quickly nicknamed “Smiley”, due to her contagious smile. Warren & Gudrun were never far apart in their 67 years of marriage and were truly a Christian role model of marriage. Gudrun died at the Salem Lutheran Homes on Friday, February 17, 2012, at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 11 days. Family & friends will be forever grateful for the many ways she touched their lives.

Preceding her in death are her parents; son Dean Jacobsen; daughter Gwen Rosheim; mother & father-in-law James & Mayme Jacobsen; siblings Margery Hansen, Joyce Strandskov, Leroy Pedersen and four others died in early childhood; brothers-in-law Paul Nielsen, Emery Hoegh & Leon Hoegh.
