Ralph John Reisz was born May 13, 1928, the son of Gustav and Catherine Clemens Reisz. He passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-two.

Ralph was born in Panama, Iowa. He attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Denison. After his schooling, he began working on the family farm. In September 1952 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea and Japan. He received his honorable discharge in August 1954 and then served in the Reserves for six years. From 1972 to 1982 he worked construction and then at Farmland Foods until 1990.

In April 1958 he married Francis Cose at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. After her death he was united in marriage to JoAnn Lingrove at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison on December 28, 1977.
He was a loving and devoted husband. He enjoyed going fishing and also playing cards. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Francis; five brothers: Adam, Tony, Jim, Peter, and Robert and his wife, LaVerne; one sister, Catherine Hanlin and her husband, Gene; and one brother-in-law, Gene Manz. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn; two sisters: Margaret; and Lucille and her husband, Myron; other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, Iowa. Fr. Paul Kelly served as Celebrant of the Mass with interment at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery. Organist Jean Cornelius provided accompaniment for the St. Rose of Lima Choir. Service participants included lector, Ann Delanty; servers, Jade Magnuson and Cameron Webb; and Eucharistic ministers, Ron Songer, Carolyn VonTersch and Larry Schwarte. Serving as pallbearers were Chad A. Montgomery, David Reisz, Joe Thelen, Richard Hanlin, Gary Reisz and Ron Manz. Military honors were by American Legion Post 8 of Denison. Monday services included a Legion of Mary Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Vigil Service led by Fr. Tim Friedrichsen at 5 p.m. The family invited everyone to return to the church for fellowship and lunch served by the Ladies Guild. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
