Osborn Family Reunion, 1895

A family reunion was held during the past week at the beautiful home of our townsman, John F. Osborn, the occasion being the eightieth birthday of grandfather Osborn, which occurred on the 11th inst. There were present two of Mr. Osborn's brothers, one sister with a brother-in-law and sister-in-law. All of Mr. Osborn's immediate family, consisting of one son and three daughters were present, together with all the grand children except the three children of S. C. Osborn. The reunion was a noted one; it was the first time the brothers and sisters had all been together for over forty years, all the family being present except one sister of Father Osborn, whose home is in California.

The family have spent the week visiting together and with friends in this community, all three brothers having formerly lived in Wisconsin near neighbors with a number of our Shelby county people. On Friday they all visited with Father Osborn's oldest daughter, Mrs. T. J. Wyland. On Sunday all attended church at the Congregational church. On Monday the entire party visited the photograph gallery and a negative for a group photograph was taken. Later they all took dinner with T. K. Westrope and wife at their fine home east of town. On Tuesday the party began to disperse for their respective homes.

Following is a roster of the family: John F. Osborn, aged 80 years, Harlan, Iowa; Peter L. Osborn, aged 78, Lenox, Kansas; Enoch B. Osborn, aged 77, Catherine Osborn, his wife, aged 68, Tabor, Iowa; Mrs. Ruth Ludlum, aged 71, Wm. Ludlum, 72, Belmont, Wisconsin; S. C. Osborn and wife, Glenwood, Iowa; T. J. Wyland and wife, Harlan, Iowa; Misses Cora and Jennie Osborn, Harlan, Iowa: Miss Lettie Osborn, a granddaughter of Peter L. Osborn, Fulton, Kansas; Miss Nannie Lallich, Darlington, Wisconsin; Hugh O., Elizabeth A., Mary J. and Fred E. Wyland.
