Mrs. Caroline Christine Christensen, 78, mother-in-law of Arthur Voelliger, Bettendorf fire chief, died Thursday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emil Burgess, 418 Tenth street, Bettendorf, following an illness of the last two months.

Born March 30, 1866, in Denmark, Mrs. Christensen came to America and directly to Buffalo in 1890 with her parents, the late Peter and Thora Petersen. She was married to Hans M. Christensen here October 1891. He preceded her in death in September, 1935. She was of the Lutheran faith.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Carl Rauch, Buffalo, Mrs. Burgess, Mrs. Carl Paulsen and Mrs. Arthur Voelliger, all of Bettendorf; three sons, Walter J., Jens R. and Carl R. Christensen all of Wisconsin Dells, Wis.; three sisters, Mrs. Jens Petersen, Davenport, Mrs. Jens Christiansen, Chicago and Mrs. Chris Rasmussen, Moline and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the McGinnis funeral home, with burial in Rose Hill cemetery, Buffalo.
