Funeral services for Sadie Kroening, 92, Wilton, will be held at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 14 at Bentley Funeral Home in Wilton, with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Kathy Luethye is the organist and Henry Bentley will sing. Pallbearers are Tom, Jason and Jeremiah Hartley; Terry, Dustin and Wes Furne; Al Behm and Cecil Davis. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

Mrs. Kroening died May 10 at her home in Wilton.

The daughter of Phillip and Sophie Lieberenz Scharff, she was born Sept. 17, 1904 in Scott county. She married Elnof F. Kroening on Sept. 17, 1924 in Davenport. He died in 1948.

Mrs. Kroening worked at the Wilton Nursing Home and at Barlow's Bakery in Wilton. She was a member of RNA, Sunbury Camp, the Business and Professional Women of Wilton, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Wilton Golden Agers.

She is survived by 5 grandchildren, Kathryn (Mrs. Wesley) Furne; Susan Hartley, Lori Hartley and Thomas Hartley; all of Wilton; and Richard Hartley, Las Vegas, Neb.; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Betty Lou Hartley; 2 sisters, Hazel and Hilda; and 2 brothers, Ralph and Andrew.
