Funeral services for Alverna L. Steffen, 84, Wilton and formerly of Durant, were held May 8, 1995 at the Lacock-Bentley Funeral Home in Durant, with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Mabyn Fox was the organist and Henry Bentley sang. Private burial was held May 9 in the Walcott cemetery.

Mrs. Steffen died May 5 at Genesis West in Davenport.

The daughter of Albert and Hulda Guick Hamann, she was born Oct. 10, 1910. She married Raymond Steffen Dec. 10, 1938 in Davenport. He died March 2, 1985.

Mrs. Steffen was a homemaker. She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America in Walcott.

She is survived by a daughter, Virginette (Mrs. David) Herrmann, Blue Grass; a son, Jerry Steffen, Des Moines; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a grandson.

Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics.
