Funeral services for Edward H. Ralfs, 89, Wheatland and formerly of Durant, were held Dec. 31, 1994 at Runge Mortuary in Davenport, with burial in the Davenport Memorial Park cemetery.

Mr. Ralfs died Dec. 28 at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home in Wheatland.

The son of Herman and Emma Knaack Ralfs, he was born Aug. 17, 1905 in Durant. He married Alice Boll Feb. 20, 1929 in Davenport. She died in September 1966. He married Gladys L. Freese Oct. 4, 1967 in Rock Island, Ill.

Mr. Ralfs farmed in the Dixon-Plainview area, retiring in 1971.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence, the Durant Senior Citizens and the Iowa Farm Bureau. He enjoyed gardening and playing cards.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Betty Ann (Mrs. Roger) Bousselot, Calamus; a stepson, Baxter Freese, Rockford, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Beverly (Mrs. Dan) Nikolic, Santa Monica, Calif.; 3 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; and 4 brothers, Clarence, Henry and Harry, all of Davenport; and LeRoy, Walcott. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ray.

Memorials may be made to the Wheatland Manor Nursing Home or St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence.
