Funeral services for Vernelle Marie Olson, 74, New Liberty, were held Dec. 13, 1994 at the Runge Mortuary in Davenport, with the Rev. David Lawson of the Gloria Dei Lutheran church in Durant officiating. Burial was in the Davenport Memorial Park cemetery.

Mrs. Olson died Dec. 11 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

The daughter of Axel Albert and Lillian Leptien Ahlgren, she was born Feb. 23, 1920 in Scott county. She married Harold Olson and he died in March 1988.

Mrs. Olson worked for Petersen Harned Von Maur for 42 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Jean (Mrs. Jim) Havill, New Liberty, with whom she resided; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Marion (Mrs. William) Henderkott, Bettendorf; Marge (Mrs. Keith) Gillam and Carol (Mrs. Donald E.) Sidlinger, both of LeClaire; Lillian (Mrs. David) Holst, Princeton; and Florence (Mrs. Flo) DeMeulenare, Ukih, Calif.; and a brother, Melvin Ahlgren, LeClaire. She was preceded in death by 2 grandsons.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
