Funeral services for Clements J. Meyer, 71, Walcott, were held July 21 at the Runge Mortuary in Davenport, with the Rev. C. H. Meyer officiating. Pallbearers were LaVerne Arp, Loren Claussen, Alvin Meinert, Loren Meyer, Merlin Meyer and Dennis Puck. Burial was in the Walcott cemetery.
Mr. Meyer died July 18 in rural Scott county.
The son of John and Lizzie Paustian Meyer, he was born March 20, 1923 in rural Scott county. He married Marvella Ruwe April 27, 1949 in Davenport.
Mr. Meyer served in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1949. He had been employed as a commercial feed salesman for MoorMan Manufacturing Co., Quincy, Ill. for 31 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a past president of the Walcott Community Club, a social member of the Walcott American Legion and a 30 year veteran of the Walcott Community Fire Department. He enjoyed socializing with friends and playing cards.
Mr. Meyer is survived by his wife; 2 daughters, Mary Jo Meyer and Jill Cook, both of Davenport; 2 sons, John Meyer, Wyoming and Marty Meyer, Walcott; 4 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lenora Arp, Stockton and Irene Claussen, Davenport; 3 brothers, Elmer Meyer, Bennett; LeRoy Meyer, Durant and Alvin Meyer, Davenport; and many nieces and nephews.
