Funeral services for Ira E. West, 79, Durant, were held June 25, 1994 at the Lacock-Bentley Funeral Home in Durant, with the Rev. Larry Pries officiating. Mabyn Fox was the organist and Henry Bentley sang. Sons and sons-in-law were the pallbearers. Burial was in the Walcott cemetery, with rites by Walcott American Legion Post 548.

Mr. West died June 22 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Davenport.

The son of Oscar and Blanche Fulkerton West, he was born July 25, 1914 in VanWert. He married Lurena Moeller June 6, 1945 in Davenport.

Mr. West farmed for 35 years in Scott county, retiring in 1978.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 472nd engineers in the South Pacific. He was a member of Walcott American Legion Post 548 and the Scott County Farm Bureau.

Mr. West is survived by his wife; 2 daughters, Linnea (Mrs. Frank) Juarez, Davenport and Sheila (Mrs. Tom) Compton, Durant; 3 sons, William, Soldotna, Alaska; Jack, Durant and Willard, Sterling, Alaska; 5 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and a brother, Avery, Leon. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 6 brothers and a son, Jay, in 1958.
