Graveside services for William John Anderson, 65, former Bennett school custodian, were held at the Durant cemetery March 5 with the Rev. Dan Furon officiating. Mr. Anderson died at his home, rural Wilton, March 2.
Born in Des Moines Nov. 5, 1918, he was a veteran of World War II, having served in both the army and navy.
He had been an employee of the Des Moines school system as a school custodian and bus driver and had been a custodian for a retirement village in Missouri prior to coming to this area. He was named as head custodian at the Bennett school in 1979. He retired, because of ill health, in April, 1983.
He was married to Betty Treat in Des Moines in 1943.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Jean) Kime, Sunbury; a son, John Jr., Des Moines, 3 grandchildren and a brother, James, Tucson, AZ.
