Ben Scherler of Davenport died peacefully with his family by his side on August 6, 2022. Ben chose cremation and not to have a funeral service.

Ben was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Werner and Helen Scherler. Through high school, Ben played four years of Varsity Football and earned a football scholarship to Bradley University in Peoria. Graduating in 1951, Ben soon began a successful lifetime career in the heating and air conditioning industry, focusing on sales and management.

Ben married Grace Wyckoff of Peoria in 1950 and had five boys: Marvin, Kenneth, Dale, Bruce, and Quincy. They divorced after 17 years. Ben married Marilyn Matthews in 1993. They enjoyed traveling, their new combined family and many family gatherings.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two wives. Ben is survived by his five sons, two stepdaughters and a sister.

Ben will be dearly missed by many. May he rest in peace.
