Obituary
Harold Lyle Harmon, 89, of Milan, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022.

Harold was born October 12, 1932, in Shevlin, Minnesota to Jeremiah “Jerry” and Anna (Syverson) Harmon. Harold attended grade school in Shevlin and graduated from Bagley High School in 1950. Harold then joined the Air Force in November 1950 completing his basic training in California and later stationed at Sheppard Air Force base in Wichita Falls, Texas. Harold married Colleen Ellis in the chapel at Sheppard Air Force base on April 3, 1953. He served four years of active duty, one of which in French Morocco, North Africa. In October 1960, Harold was honorably discharged. Harold and Colleen returned to Pengilly, Minnesota where he worked in the iron mines until he enrolled at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis where he studied HVAC. He worked for Central Electric in Davenport, Iowa, where he started his lifelong career. Harold and Colleen then purchased a small home in Milan and a short time later they started their family and began major renovation and construction on their “Harmon Homestead” with help from family and many friends.

Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Colleen; daughter-in-law, Kathy Harmon; daughter, Letha Driskell; son, Anthony “Tony” (Kim) Harmon; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly; and brother, Kenton (Lorraine) Harmon.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; son, Craig; sister, Corinne; and brothers, Bob, Lester, and Milo.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2022, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, and livestreamed at https://www.wheelanpressly.com/milan-live-stream. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center or Milan Christian Food Pantry.
