Obituary
Harold W. Powell, 80, of Taylor Ridge, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022, while in hospice with his daughter and son-in-law by his side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2022, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the mass from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center.

Harold was born July 24, 1942, in Muscatine, Iowa, a son of Sherman Jr. and Lorraine (Brunson) Powell. He married Donna Holgate on April 27, 1963, in Rock Island. Harold proudly retired from John Deere Harvester Works after working 37 years. He was also an avid farmer. Harold enjoyed hunting and watching football, westerns, and NASCAR. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Harold’s memory include his wife, Donna; children, Michael (Holly) Powell, Paula (Jeff) Verschoore, and Shawn Powell; grandchildren, John (significant other, Hannah) Powell, Jacob (fiancée, Brianna) Powell, Katrina (Jacob) O’Neall, Cassi Vroman, Carli Vroman, Justin (Alena) Verschoore, Callie Verschoore, and Cade Verschoore; great-grandson, Koe Verschoore; fur baby, Madi; siblings, Louis Powell, Marge (Gary) Oakland, Dianna Martin, Joette Heymann, and Deb Bowen; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Rick and Sherman Powell.
