Leona "Lee" M. Nielsen

October 13, 1943-July 16, 2022

DAVENPORT-Leona "Lee" M. Nielsen (Teel) of Davenport, Iowa passed away Saturday July 16, 2022 at home. Lee was born on October 13, 1943 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Carl O. Teel and Geraldine M.L. Wainscott. Most of her childhood was spent in Montpelier, Iowa where she was raised by her mother and loving step-father Clyde Walker.

On December 29, 1962 Lee married Nels D. Nielsen. Lee was well loved by anyone who came to know her so much that even her children's friends called her "mom". Lee's love for quilting and sewing led her to work as a seamstress. Lee was a lifelong Cubs fan who also enjoyed canning, camping, and boating. She was also a big animal lover but above all, she loved spending time with family and friends.

Those left to honor her memory are her children Sue Perry (Tom), Milinda Carstons (Milt), Walter Nielsen; six grandchildren, Kevin Dunaway (Melissa), Pamela Paulin (Richard), Carl Schiffke, John Schiffke (Bre), Nicole Fountain (Devin), and Nicholas Nielsen; six great children; her brother Albert Teel; and former spouse Larry Beeth.

Lee was preceded in death by her parents; brother Donald Teel; and her husband of 57 years Nels Nielsen who passed during heavy restrictions of the pandemic.

Services will be held for both Lee and Nels Nielsen on July 23, 2022 at 1 P.M. at Fairmount Cemetery Crematory Chapel, located at 3902 Rockingham Rd. Davenport, Iowa. Out of appreciation for the care and comfort received, Memorials may be directed to Genisis Hospice.
