Nedra E. Hallberg (1930-2022)

Nedra E. Hallberg, of Bettendorf, was born October 21, 1930, in Rural Warren County, Illinois, the daughter of Russell and Naomi (Watt) Day. She married Leon Hallberg in First Lutheran Church, Monmouth, Illinois on August 26, 1951. She died surrounded by loved ones on July 19, 2022, at the age of 91.

Nedra was educated in the Warren and Henderson County schools, graduating from Biggsville Township High School in 1948. Nedra worked as an X-ray Technician for several years before becoming a wife, mother, and volunteer for her church, her children's schools, the Red Cross, and other organizations.

Nedra loved to travel with her husband and family and enjoyed many trips throughout the United States, Australia, and Europe. An inveterate game player, she enjoyed many different types of cards and board games. Nedra loved her family deeply, valued the time spent together, and enjoyed schooling her grandkids in a game of cards. A long-standing member of the Area Welcome Club, she enjoyed all the activities available. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport and involved with WELCA and the quilters group.

She is survived by two sons David (Kathleen) Hallberg, of Grapevine, Texas, Kevin (Emma Duffy) Hallberg of Bangor, Wales, and her daughter Ellen Otten of Davenport, Iowa. Grandchildren Joshua (Margaret Haywood) Otten of Toledo, Ohio, and Sarah (Nathan) Randleman of Muscatine, Iowa, and two great-grandsons, Carter and Easton Randleman, also of Muscatine. Two sisters, Maxine Windsor, of Oneida, Illinois, and Alice Gillam of Monmouth, Illinois. One sister-in-law, Dorothy Day of Erie, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Leon, a son, Gregory Hallberg, her parents, two brothers, Robert and Merle Day, and a sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Day, two brothers-in-law, Bene Windsor, and Lorraine Gillam.

She impacted many throughout her life and will be dearly missed by those whose lives she touched.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Inurnment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Garden. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family with services.
