Virginia (Darlene) Tilton

October 14, 1929-July 14, 2022

Virginia (Darlene) Tilton, born in Waukon, IA to Ruby and Delbert Roggensack in 1929, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, in the town she loved on July 14.

She was raised in Burlington where she met the one love of her life Robert W. Tilton. They were married in 1949 and had a son Scott. Darlene and her family moved to Bettendorf in 1962 and Darlene began her career in real estate with Chet Robbins Realty. Her real estate career spanned well over 60 years and she was one of the first women to join the Greater Davenport Board of Realtors. Through the years she worked for Ken Swartz Building, Gramp Better Homes and Gardens, and Mel Foster Realty. She exceeded the yearly Million Dollar milestone long before it became common. Darlene was President's Club and Chairman's Club at Mel Foster, and was awarded Emeritus Status by the National Association of Realtors for selling real estate for 50 years, but she wasn't done yet! She never officially retired, but her license expired right around her 88th birthday. Her greatest satisfaction came from helping buyers and sellers who were repeat customers, or the children and grandchildren of her loyal customers. She helped generations of families find their homes in the Iowa Quad Cities. She never tired of driving around Bettendorf and admiring the the new subdivisions dotting the landscape and she loved to show everyone the homes she sold and built in Bettendorf.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, her brother Tom Roggensack and sister in law Marcielle, and her nephew Jeff Roggensack.

She leaves a son Scott K Tilton (Susie), a grandson Nicholas (Madison) Tilton and great granddaughter Miller and Baby Tilton expected this year, and granddaughter Christina Tilton Carter (Dave) and great granddaughter Carson.

Visitation will be held at Weerts Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 19th from 10-11am. Service at 11am with burial following at Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Darlene's memory may be made to the Scott County Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
